Southern Cross Austereo Helps Create Game Day Memories

07 Oct 2026

A Cowboys home game is about more than what happens on the field. It’s the people beside you, the roar of the crowd and the moments you get to share that can make game day memorable.

Throughout the 2026 season, Triple M Townsville helped extend that experience to volunteers, families and community members through Cowboys Community Foundation’s Field of Dreams program.

Across three home games, Field of Dreams welcomed guests through Orange Sky, Brighter Lives Hospital Foundation and Diabetes Australia into the Cowboys crowd at Queensland Country Bank Stadium, with each game creating an opportunity to recognise and connect people within our community.

For Orange Sky, it was an opportunity to recognise the local volunteers who give their time to support people experiencing homelessness across Townsville.

The chance to swap a volunteer shift for an afternoon at the footy sparked plenty of excitement among the team.

“Thank you so much again for this opportunity, we are super excited to offer this experience to the incredible Townsville volunteers,” an Orange Sky representative said.

For Brighter Lives Hospital Foundation, game day brought volunteers and families of young patients from Townsville University Hospital together for an afternoon at the stadium.

Sometimes, the impact was as simple as having the chance to enjoy time together.

“It was a great afternoon out as a family!” one guest said.

Another reflected on the generosity behind the experience that brought together their support for Brighter Lives and their love of the Cowboys.

“Thanks for your generosity. It is very kind of you to make these tickets available to those who support both Brighter Lives and the Cowboys.”

Diabetes Australia used its Field of Dreams experience to welcome guests from Townsville Aboriginal and Islander Health Service (TAIHS), providing an opportunity for community members to come together and enjoy a Cowboys game.

“We are incredibly grateful to Triple M Townsville and the Cowboys Community Foundation for their generosity,” said Adjunct Associate Professor Deanne Minniecon - Group Executive of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement.

“This will be a special opportunity for our community members to come together, enjoy the game, and feel recognised for the support they provide to our organisation.”

While each charity brought a different group to Field of Dreams, the experiences shared a common thread of bring people together.

Whether recognising volunteers who give back to others, creating an afternoon for families to enjoy together or welcoming community members into the Cowboys crowd, Field of Dreams creates space for people to connect, feel valued and share an experience that might not otherwise be possible.

Triple M Townsville General Manager, Penny Hawken, said supporting Field of Dreams provided a meaningful way to recognise people making a difference across the region.

“Triple M Townsville is all about being part of the North Queensland community, so we’ve loved being able to help more people experience the atmosphere of a Cowboys home game through Field of Dreams.

“Orange Sky, Brighter Lives Hospital Foundation and Diabetes Australia each make an important contribution to our community, and it’s been fantastic to see the people they support and connect with come together, enjoy the footy and create some special memories..”

Through Triple M Townsville’s support in 2026, Field of Dreams opened the gates to more people across our community, turning three Cowboys home games into opportunities to connect, celebrate and create memories together.
