Fresh Partnership to Give Community Programs a Voice

29 Oct 2026

Stories have the power to inspire action.

They have the power to build peoples' support of a cause, encourage their involvement in community and uncover opportunities they never knew existed.

In 2026, the Cowboys Community Foundation has partnered with Seven Media Group to share such stories with more people across North Queensland than ever.

Now, the impact of this partnership can be seen on the road.

One of the vehicles used by NRL Cowboys House has been transformed with Indigenous artwork inspired by our students' designs. More than a striking new look, the wrap celebrates the culture, identity and creativity these students bring to life every day.

The vehicle itself also has an important job.

It carries these young people beyond the House to learning, sport, cultural and social events, giving our community an essential role across all stages of their growth.

These students come from rural and remote regions. Living away from home, such journeys are an integral aspect of the wraparound support that helps them develop the confidence to seize new opportunities.

With their culture imbued, the wrap will serve to welcome our entire community into being part of the stories that drive our Foundation forward.

Throughout the year Seven Media Group has also used the reach of local radio to support the Foundation in connecting North Queensland communities with the initiatives that impact their everyday lives.

During the season, our partnership helped herald an Australian-Sports record prize pool in the 50:50 Charity Raffle, with half being used to continue delivering the Foundation's important programs. Seven Media Group also played a role in building awareness for the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys Golf Day through its radio channels, with the event going on to raise over $130,000 in funds for the Foundation.

Behind these results are listeners who heard the message and chose to take part, helping generate vital funds for programs delivered across the region.

Cowboys Community Foundation CEO, Fiona Pelling, said Seven Media Group's commitment showed how a partner’s impact could reach well beyond financial investment.

“Every time Seven Media Group shares one of our stories, they help us reach someone new,” Ms Pelling said.

“That person might support a fundraiser, attend an event or hear about a program that could make a difference for them or someone they know. We saw the strength of that connection this year when our 50-50 Charity Raffle and North Queensland Toyota Cowboys Golf Day achieved their highest fundraising results to date.

“With Seven Media Group's support we're bringing people closer to the work that impacts their lives everyday."

Seven Media Group's Penny Hawken said their partnership reflected the Group's commitment to the communities it serves.

“We’re proud to partner with the Cowboys Community Foundation and support their impactful work benefiting communities across North Queensland,” Ms Hawken said.

“Radio has a special ability to bring people together. Whether we’re sharing the story behind a program or helping more people discover new opportunities, we can use our voice to strengthen the connections that make our region special.

“Seeing the students’ artwork brought to life on the NRL Cowboys House vehicle is a wonderful expression of that connection."

As Seven Media Group and the Cowboys Community Foundation move forward together, we're excited by the new connections still to be made and the opportunities they will create.

We can't wait to share more stories, welcome more people into the Foundation’s work and see where this partnership takes our voice next.
