09 Apr 2026

Students at NRL Cowboys House will gain greater access to real-world experiences and career pathways, with Fulton Hogan stepping into a new role as a Supporting Partner of the Career Transitions Program.

As part of building individual career pathways for Year 10-12 students, Fulton Hogan is looking forward to introducing students to hands-on opportunities and insights into careers within the infrastructure and civil construction industry, helping to build confidence, capability and clear direction beyond school.

A long-standing supporter of the Cowboys Community Foundation, Fulton Hogan has been a Friend of the House since 2017 and has now increased its commitment to further support students as they transition into employment, training and further education after graduation.

The announcement coincides with the celebration of Fulton Hogan’s second Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2025-2027, marking an important step in its ongoing reconciliation journey and commitment to creating employment, training and partnership opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Operating across Australia and New Zealand, Fulton Hogan is a leading infrastructure and civil construction company delivering essential projects across transport, water, energy and urban development.

With a strong presence in North Queensland and a local workforce of 844 people, the organisation is focused on building sustainable communities and creating long-term employment pathways, making its investment in NRL Cowboys House a natural extension of its work in the region.

NRL Cowboys House, managed by the Cowboys Community Foundation, provides a culturally-safe, supportive boarding environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from remote communities, with dedicated teams across boarding, education, career transitions, wellbeing, cultural connection and Year 13 delivering a wraparound model of care.

With more than 100 students graduating since opening in 2017, NRL Cowboys House continues to remove distance as a barrier to education, supporting young people from across North and Far North Queensland to learn, grow and achieve.

Fulton Hogan's North Queensland Regional Manager, Wayne Abrahamse said the organisation was proud to strengthen its partnership with NRL Cowboys House and support the next generation of young people.

"Being part of the NRL Cowboys House community is something I'm personally proud of and I know our whole team feels the same. We get to see firsthand the talent, resilience and potential of these young people, and my focus is on helping them turn that potential into real practical opportunities.

"Through the Career Transitions Program, we're able to give students a look at what a future in infrastructure can offer, from hands-on experience out on site to the various roles that keep our projects moving. It's about building confidence, developing skills and creating clear pathways," Mr Abrahamse said.

Cowboys Community Foundation CEO Fiona Pelling said Fulton Hogan's long-term commitment has played an important role in the growth and success of NRL Cowboys House.

"Access to real-world experiences is critical in helping our students build confidence, understand workplace expectations and see what's possible beyond school, turning aspiration into achievable pathways," Ms Pelling said.

"Fulton Hogan plays a valuable role in delivering this, providing our students with exposure to real-world environments, industry insights and potential career journeys that help bring those opportunities to life.

"We're incredibly grateful to have Fulton Hogan alongside us on this journey, from the early days of the Boys Campus opening in 2017, through the Girls Campus inception in 2019, and most recently the Graduate Campus in 2025. Their support extends well beyond partnership, consistently showing up for our community and helping drive impact for our students."

Fulton Hogan's Innovate RAP 2025-2027 guides its vision to engage actively, genuinely and respectfully with First Nations communities and peoples across the country, with a strong focus on creating social and economic opportunities that contribute to equality and long-term prosperity.
