Planning for your Will
There are many ways you can make or update your Will.
You can find out more about preparing a Will from the Public Trustee in your state or territory (Public Trustee Qld).
Then, when you’re ready, find a solicitor who specialises in Wills and Probate who will help you prepare your Will.
Types of Wills
A gift in your Will can take a variety of forms including:
- Residuary – the remainder of an estate after specific gifts have been disbursed
- Percentage – a percentage of either the residue or the entire estate
- Pecuniary – a specific gift of cash
- Specific asset – real estate, shares, bonds or other particular items of value
- Untied Non-specific Purpose - an untied gift in your Will
Residuary and percentage gifts hold their value over time and are the most effective in helping ensure our ongoing support for young people.
An untied gift provides flexibility for us to apply your bequest to where it is needed most at the time it is realised.
Wording for your Will
If you are ready to leave your Gift to the Cowboys Community Foundation, below is some suggested wording to share with your legal representative to include in your Will.
The legal description to describe the Cowboys Community Foundation in a Will is: Cowboys Charity Limited (89 603 728 427)
“I give to Cowboys Charity Limited (89 603 728 427)
- The remainder and residue of my Estate, or
- ____ percent of my Estate, or
- ____ percent of the residue of my Estate, or
- The sum of $ ____________, or
- The specific gift of ____________.
free of all duties and testamentary expenses for its general purposes.
I declare that the receipt of the Chairman or designated Officer of Cowboys Charity Limited shall be sufficient discharge to my Executors and Trustees.”

These cards provide a meaningful way to notify others of your contribution and invite them to participate in making a gift in memory as well as supporting the work of the Foundation.
