PHOTOS: House students dominate Festival of 7s

There’s some new silverware on the mantle at NRL Cowboys House after a barnstorming performance by the boys at the annual Townsville District Rugby Union Festival of 7s.

The U18 boys side proved too strong for the competition, remaining undefeated for the duration of the festival, which is held to celebrate the end of the regular rugby union season.

It was a case of ‘the one that got away’ for the U16s, who fell agonisingly short, losing a tough but thrilling grand final after progressing through their draw without a loss.

While NRL Cowboys House didn’t field a girls’ team, the House was well represented on the park with several female students turning out to play for local schools.

Played in hot October conditions, it was the sportsmanship and respect for their opposition that shone through from the participating students, with that theme to continue when the U13s take to the field in two weeks’ time.
