First Charity Golf Day right on par
The inaugural Cowboys Community Foundation Charity Golf Day has put down the challenge for years to come – 19 teams, spirited competition and valuable funds raised for young North Queenslanders.
A strong contingent of Foundation supporters arrived early at Townsville Golf Club last Friday as rain threatened, but a small tropical shower couldn’t dampen their enthusiasm for the four-player, 12-hole Ambrose that entertained and challenged golfers of all levels across the course.
Former Cowboys players Johnathan Thurston, Matthew Bowen, Ray Thompson and Antonio Winterstein also showed their support and some impressive form, as did Dallas Webster from Aon who won ladies ‘nearest the pin’.
Congratulations to BG Group NQ who took out the trophy!
“Thank you to everyone who supported our very first charity golf day and made the day a great success,” said event organiser Sarah Jones, Business Development Manager with the Cowboys Community Foundation.
“We have already started planning our 2020 event and look forward to adding some new elements that will be sure to surprise and delight.”
Presented by Veolia, the Cowboys Community Foundation Charity Golf Day raised funds to create opportunities and inspire futures through flagship program NRL Cowboys House, as well as supporting the Try for 5! school attendance challenge.
