‘Chosen One’ now part of House story

NRL Cowboys House students and staff have become one for the 2020 school year with the annual polo shirt handout and an insight into the unique design by Aboriginal artist William Chambers.

The shirts feature William’s design entitled ‘Chosen One’, winner of the Cowboys Indigenous Jersey Design Competition and the centrepiece for the Cowboys Indigenous jersey to be worn in their Round 11 NRL game against the Rabbitohs at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.

The House gathered on Friday afternoon to hear General Manager Rochelle Jones describe the design, which tells the story of the sea turtle’s cycle of life from hatchling to fully grown turtle.

“It’s important that our students and staff understand the story of the shirts they will wear this year,” Ms Jones said.

“Our shirts help create a sense of belonging and we are very proud to all wear William’s beautiful design.

“Students will also have the chance to have their own singlet version of the shirt, which will be used as a reward for positive behaviour.”
